Job Details

The US Hemophilia Team Lead is responsible for providing product expertise for Hemophilia assets and understanding patients and physicians point of view. The Team Lead provides support for the development of strategies and data generation and is accountable for ensuring that medical plans supporting the product are successfully developed to achieve short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals. He/she partners with external experts to inform business planning and development of medicine. The Team Lead will also have a team of Field Medical Directors reporting into him/her.


+ Proactively incorporates patients' & physicians' voice in the development of medical strategies & tactics as well as the needs of customers, including payers.

+ Ensure effective cross-functional alignment in customer facing activities and represent Pfizer externally.

+ Support development and execution of medical strategies for phase IV research, publication planning, and advisory board implementation.

+ Contribute to data generation/analyses and ensures medical and scientific accuracy of manuscripts and abstracts/posters.

+ Provides medical support and input on labeling and regulatory interactions in preparation of launch of medicine.

+ Support activities related to safety evaluations and reporting requirements.

+ Ensure Medical accuracy of content for promotional materials and sales training. Coordinate medical support for concept development. Provide US commercial support in the development of promotional activities. Partner with legal and regulatory colleagues to ensure compliant and accurate content. Ensure high quality medical content of all promotional activities.

+ Support/lead development of IIRs in the US.

+ Provide medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders.

+ Provides medical knowledge and support in preparation for launch readiness, including such activities as promotional message development & product training for the sales force.

+ Contributes to the development and presentation of operating plans.

+ Ensures medical strategies are aligned into the commercial strategy and its implementation, where appropriate

+ Responsible for leading, managing, developing and coaching FMD team members across the US.

+ Ensures field medical directors generate and execute an individual development plan.

+ Conduct supervisory 'field days' with each FMD on the team yearly.

+ Ensure medical strategies developed reflect customer insights and needs as garnered from the field medical directors

+ Accountable for the development and approval of medical content by Medical Review Committee for use in the field to enhance medical communication between Pfizer and national, regional and local health care professionals relating to the safe and appropriate use of Pfizer medicines.

+ Align the voice of US Medical Affairs and Field Medical, representing the HQ NA team in internal forums. Ensure NA needs are considered and represented in global strategies & plans.

+ Build trust among team members and broader stakeholders by setting a highly visible example of medical excellence. Actively support development of direct reports, providing insights, direction and opportunities.

+ Engage on peer basis with medical directors of independent networks and other healthcare providing entities to develop mutually beneficial solutions enhancing patient care.


Terminal Degree (PhD, PharmD)

Significant industry and research experience, including a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in clinical and/or health services research (preferably in the pharmaceutical industry)

Understanding of the drug development process

Knowledge of health care economics and its impact on medical decision making

Strong analytical skills

Professional demeanor & excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with external customers /internal colleagues

Customer-oriented approach and ability to work in cross-functional teams

Proven strategic thinking skills and ability to interpret and implement strategic directions
