Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic and energetic Utilization Review Coordinator

Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health offers a 108 Bed Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital for Acute Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorders. We offer both inpatient and outpatient services. Services are offered for adolescents, adults and seniors.

Utilization Review Coordinator

Key Responsibilities include :

This position coordinates the utilization management functions of a patient caseload through collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team and performance of reviews with external review organizations/managed care companies.  The Utilization Review Specialist advocates for the patient and ensures proper utilization of facility and treatment resources.   In addition, the Utilization Review Coordinator reviews patient records for proper case documentation and medical necessity of treatment in relation to federal regulations and insurance requirements; conducts routine quality reviews; provides information about utilization requirements to clinical staff; and participates with departmental staff in treatment team, utilization management, and quality meetings as needed.

Job Requirements

Education:  RN or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health or related degree.

Experience:  A minimum of two (2) years experience in a healthcare setting or managed care company, with experience in patient assessment, treatment planning, utilization management, and/or case management.

Licensure: R.N., L.M.S.W., LPC, or other healthcare – related licensure preferred.
