Prudential’s High Tech Investigations Unit (HTIU) is seeking a well rounded individual with significant leadership and technical experience to lead the unit in incident response, investigations, computer forensics and e-discovery experience.
Prudential’s High Tech Investigations Unit addresses the complex and growing challenge posed by individuals using computers and other technologies to perpetrate their schemes. The HTIU is the investigative unit for all cyber investigations, working closely with the information security office and the security operations center. The HTIU provides valuable assistance to departments such as Law, Compliance, Human Resources and Global Security, as well as Prudential's international business units, whenever technology is used as the main attack method or when the majority of evidence is technical in nature. This includes obtaining data stored electronically or communications conducted through e-mail and instant messaging that need to be reviewed or provided in the course of litigation and regulatory reviews. The HTIU conducts enterprise-wide investigations relating to regulatory violations, theft, inappropriate conduct, conflicts of interest, ethical violations, incident response, theft of intellectual property, identity theft, computer intrusion, and trespass and misuse of internal communication technologies.
The HTIU is an integral part of cybersecurity at Prudential and is partnered with other departments to fight cyber-attacks with the best knowledge and tools available. Adversaries such as: hackers, cyber criminals, cyber terrorists, foreign governments, and individuals within legitimate businesses ("insiders"), commit malicious and suspicious cyber acts and/or launch attacks on businesses like Prudential every day. It is the challenge of the HTIU to identify, collect and analyze evidence in order to understand the actions of these adversaries, the impact these malicious actions have on Prudential, and to engage with law enforcement to apprehend the attackers.
The Global Head of HTIU partners with other senior information security leaders to protect the global enterprise. In this role, the VP will work closely with the Information Security Office, Chief Privacy Officer, regulatory and privacy counsel and IT Risk on cyber incident response and preparedness. The Vice President participates in the cyber incident response program, tests the effectiveness of the program and coordinates incident response across the enterprise. The HTIU is referred cyber incident response investigations stemming from initial triage conducted by the Information Security Office.
This is an operational role with oversight of investigators and multiple long term information security projects, both domestically and abroad.
This individual must demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines. The candidate should have experience in cyber incident response and significant training and experience in forensics and investigations. Prior law enforcement experience responding to data breaches and conducting both forensic investigations and traditional interviews would be a major plus. The candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with members of the business units across the Enterprise and to integrate with information security officers in the United States and abroad. The candidate must also partner with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to file cases and pursue perpetrators on behalf of Prudential. He/she should have a working knowledge of financial products and the financial services industry.
HTIU reports to the Vice President and Chief Counsel for Cybersecurity and Privacy, who is a direct report to the Chief Regulatory Officer within the Law department.
- At least 15 years experience in information security (can be a combination of information security, incident response and cyber investigations).
- Must have at least 10 years law enforcement, internal incident response or consulting experience, as well as at least 5 years of cybersecurity management experience.
- Ideal candidate will have either law enforcement experience in the cyber field or consulting experience in the cyber field, coupled with in-house experience with an information security or investigations department.
- Advanced degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field.
- Proven experience in cyber incident response.
- Proven experience in conducting forensic analysis of Windows-based and Apple-based devices.
- Proven experience in conducting investigative interviews, including writing memorandums of interviews.
- Formal interview training is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IBM’s Lotus Notes platform, especially of available forensic artifacts, EnCE , ACE, CFCE, CISSP, or similar industry-accepted certifications preferred.
- Experience using EnCase or similar forensic tools.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
