*Role Description*

The Vice President, Global Policy is responsible for shaping Pfizer's global public policy positions and priorities. The VP of Policy has responsibility for leading and managing the development and implementation of a coordinated approach to advance business-relevant policy issues related to health systems, healthcare financing and regulatory reforms. In addition, the VP of Policy will develop policy positions on healthcare and public policy and develop supporting evidence on key issues. The VP will represent Pfizer in external forums with global and regional institutions including academics and non-governmental organizations, and will work closely with Pfizer Government Affairs and other groups to incorporate policy positions into effective advocacy strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with Pfizer's senior executives on their external engagements with policymakers and other stakeholders. The VP will oversee and facilitate the generation and use of economic and policy-based analysis to shape health environments and broader health system trends impacting Pfizer's assets, markets, and/ or reputation. The VP will manage a global team of policy experts and an external budget. This position will be located in New York City.


Develops the overall people, technological and financial resourcing strategy for the Global Policy team. Collaborates with other businesses segments and functions to ensure an aligned approach to policy and advocacy that advances important business priorities.Develops policy platforms and develop and disseminate strategic research and analysis to shape international, regional, and national policy environments.Effectively and credibly engages externally to drive policy agenda through representatives in trade organizations, participation in policy forums, and through speaking engagements.Has a clear focus on the external environmental trends and priority commercial issues that present significant opportunities or risks over the short, medium and long term.Works closely with Finance, Strategy and Market Access to incorporate the implications of policy into financial and business planning.Identifies and foster relationships with academics to advance new research supporting priority policy issues for Pfizer and its patientsEnsures internal alignment and act as a connector across between business units and between global, regional, and local public affairs.Measures the impact of policy activities with internal and external stakeholders and continuously monitor the relevance of projects and activities to the business. Ensures Pfizer leadership in industry-wide initiatives and policy-influencing activities. Undertakes policy analysis and forecasts implications to Pfizer and key partners. Oversees a team located in multiple regions, fostering career development, ensuring excellence in the work product and facilitating best practice sharing. Manages a research and consulting budget.


Experience in the pharma industry is required, preferably 15 years in addition to 5 years of experience in policy analysis, consulting, strategy is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Demonstrated acumen in negotiation and debate. Must have a strong executive presence, prior experience working with CEO or CEO-1 a plus. Can assess and articulate the business and reputation impact of policy challenges and opportunities, facilitating internal consensus and a one-Pfizer approach.Operates successfully in a high intensity environment, manages multiple demands though prioritization and efficient use of time. Experienced cross functional and direct team leader with positive feedback from direct reports and demonstrated ability to grow and develop others. Lead the development of strategies to address health system reform activities (e.g.pricing mechanisms, alternative financing, market incentives, HTA, CER, etc.), setting clear, measurable goals for each of these priorities, including timing, while maintaining a focus on outcomes rather than activities.Help develop and implement the overarching vision, strategy and operating plan for Global Policy. Ensure alignment with other divisions.Deliver continuous improvement in performance, timelines and financial efficiency.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Some travel required
