Prudential Individual Life Technology and Business Services is seeking a Program Portfolio Manager to lead the transformation of its PPM practices to assure that its portfolio appropriately aligns with business strategy, maintains appropriate balance between innovation, dynamic experimentation and achievement of optimal operation of its current business model.


This is a unique opportunity to assist the ILI organization to step up their PPM capability maturity to respond to the new landscape of growing investment in digital solutions, and increased emphasis on adaptive approaches such as agile, lean and scrum within the context of need for speed and prescribed budgets.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Take an activist, adaptive approach to executing strategy by adopting new approaches to program and portfolio management.  Be a thought leader in development of transformative processes for portfolio planning and execution
  • Forge strong/collaborative relationships with senior leadership, functional leaders and with strategic partners to understand strategic vision and objectives and to translate into sound portfolio strategies
  • Identify and implement improvements to the current process to enable appropriate portfolio management strategy, maintenance and practice
  • Build a more robust collaboration/relationship management capability to enable understanding of business priorities and to enable business partners to develop sound portfolio proposals with emphasis on business value
  • Serve as a strategic change leader, with demonstrated ability to deal with uncertainty, risk and rapidly changing landscapes
  • Drive continuous change in both IT and business not only to deliver the program but also to realize the defined program outcomes or value
  • Guide strategy for selection and utilization of PPM tools, integration with agile planning and development tools and portfolio decision making tools

  • 5 years PPM experience, preferably with leadership of program portfolio management function for large financial services institutions
  • 5 years experience in program portfolio management for a business utilizing Agile practices
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to enable scaling up the current agile delivery process.   Certification as a SAFe Agilist (SA) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4) preferred
  • PMP certification or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in utilizing PPM tools for portfolio analysis and optimization, demand and resource management, portfolio reporting
  • Experience implementing PPM practices for a bi-modal environment is a plus
  • Strong strategic thinking and leadership experience
  • Excellent executive presence and ability to appropriately communicate and motivate at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate across organizations
