Description

Play a critical role in the growth of a digital start-up business within a multi-billion dollar enterprise.  As the strategic partner to all CMG Verticals Brands, the VP of Sales will build the overall sales strategy for this growing portfolio of digital businesses including: Mundo Hispanico; DawgNation; SECCountry; Landof10; All22; and The Southern Kitchen.  The VP’s scope would include assessing market potential; identifying target clients and associated value proposition; and defining core advertising products. Essentially defining:  "Where to play?"  In addition, the VP will define requirements and capabilities necessary to fulfill these products and work closely with stakeholders (Publisher, GMs of the Vertical brands) to develop and implement creative solutions.  Essentially defining:  "How to win?" The VP must build a team to set, and execute against, short and long-term revenue and cost of sale targets in close coordination with stakeholders (Publisher, GMs). This executive will build an internal Verticals Sales team poised for rapid growth and product expansion; and partner with the Newspaper group’s Central National Team and CMG local sales teams at Newspaper, Radio and TV properties. Vice President Sales / CMG Vertical’s responsibilities:

50% Sales Strategy Development and Communication

  • Provide thought leadership and process in the development of strategies, operational effectiveness, and technology initiatives for all Sales Management activities.
  • Consolidate, prepare and communicate Sales strategy and management data for stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Continuously investigate new revenue and profit growth opportunities.
  • Working with managers and finance stakeholders, develop budgets and manage financial results to meet or exceed revenue budget and expense objectives while maintaining agreed-upon levels of quality and service.
  • Oversee Sales financial management activities, following the policies and standards of CMG and with a stewardship that creates long-term viability for the Verticals

50% Team Execution and Development

  • Set sales goals and performance standards;  drive results
  • Oversee “people responsibilities” for the Sales function, which includes the definition, design and implementation of an organizational structure that focuses on the future vision of the Verticals.
  • Create and maintain a work environment that drives results, calculated risk-taking, teamwork, performance feedback, individual recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction ensuring quality hiring, training, and succession planning processes that encompass CMG’s commitment to diversity & inclusion.
  • Define organizational requirements by working closely with General Managers, HR, other stakeholders to identify opportunities needed to develop and maintain the operational infrastructure required to deliver against business needs and goals. 
  • Recruit, coach and develop direct reports and supervise their staff development activities.
  • Foster open communication with employees, and clearly communicate importance of vision, direction, and priorities.


Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of relevant digital sales and marketing experience.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in leading the strategy and execution of key business initiatives that drive incremental revenue growth in a dynamic industry.
  • 10+ years managing people, teams and operations with a minimum of 5+ years managing direct reports at the Director and above level. 
  • 7+ years managing a total P&L.Proven success working in a start-up/entrepreneurial environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) required.
  • Proven experience presenting to, collaborating with and partnering with all levels of employees with a focus on Senior Leadership interactions.
  • Proven experience and results in driving change to enable teams to work more effectively.
  • Previous experience identifying, communicating and inspiring an organization around innovation and creating the next generation of process and product offerings.
  • Proven ability to implement, execute and multi-task to meet aggressive project deadlines.
  • Ability to travel based on business need is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
