Description:
The VP, Variable Annuities Market Management will report to the VP, Product Management and is responsible for managing the financials of the existing variable annuity business, product development for new variable annuity products, and existing product enhancements.  The role will include effectively managing all aspects of product strategy, which includes developing a long-term product roadmap, new product development, and in-force management, to align with Prudential’s goals and brand, as well as market needs. The successful candidate will have direct experience in annuities and a strong financial acumen, and will work closely across business functions that will include sales, marketing, actuarial, legal, compliance, information technology, and risk management. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Leading, building, coaching and developing a high-performing team of product professionals.
  • Effective collaboration in a matrix environment to execute product development initiatives both within the Product Management team and beyond
  • Driving Variable annuity product development for new initiatives, optimizing go-to-market strategies, maintaining the product roadmap, and clearly communicating goals, responsibilities and desired outcomes.  Approach product development with a view of complete end to end customer experience, recognizing the value proposition to clients and distribution partners includes more than just product features.
  • Managing the overall Variable Annuity Product P&L which includes measuring and maintaining ROI, setting rates, developing an in-force business strategy, etc.
  • Understanding the competitive landscape and market trends of various financial industry products and product lines which include pricing, benefit structure, and marketing approach; identifying any gaps and implementing solutions for our products.
  • Closely partnering with Sales & Service to gain insight into annuity operational & sales process and improvement areas and implement new processes ensuring product & actuarial integrity
  • Closely partnering with Compliance, Law, & Risk in implementation of new processes & regulatory requirements
  • Establishing relationships and credibility with leaders across Annuities; actively positioning and communicating new information, product updates and ongoing product reporting to all levels of employees.
  • Working with senior leadership to stress the importance of initiatives in order to gain acceptance and ultimately resource prioritization for product initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other Prudential businesses in order to identify new business opportunities, share best practices and ultimately leverage opportunities.
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience in areas such as product development or product management
  • 10 years of experience with fixed or variable Annuity products and annuities distribution model
  • Proven track record of developing, defining, and prioritizing best in class annuity products to take to market, increasing sales and profitability.
  • Demonstrated Proven ability to lead, develop, and grow talent
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication/presentation skills
  • Approach work with intellectual curiosity and transparency with an openness to giving and receiving feedback
  • Self-motivated, proactive and visionary leadership, thinking beyond functional responsibilities to broader business strategy
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and adept at handling multiple, changing priorities
  • Skilled at resolving conflict and negotiating effectively and tactfully
  • FINRA series 6 and 26 required, or to be obtained within 150 days of empllyment
