The Virtual Systems Engineer is responsible for deep technical coverage for both individual Cisco Hardware & Software products as well as overall architectures compromised of multiple products from both Cisco and our partner third party vendors. The engineer will be working as a part of the virtual pre-sales organization to design and deliver customized solutions to meet our customer’s business needs. As a bonus, you’ll also work with amazing people in product development and collaborate with peers to teach and learn using real-time web conferencing and video collaboration tools.

The candidate should:

•       Demonstrate deep technical expertise in the Security (Firewall, email Security, web Security, Intrusion Prevention, Access Control, VPN) portfolio and articulate business relevance (CyberSecurity, Secure Mobility, Secure Access, Threat Defence, Data Integrity Management, Mobile Workforce  etc)

•       Have a strong expertise in Routing, Switching and/or Virtualization

•       Understand Wired & Wireless LAN deployment models and adjacencies (Campus Design, Site Survey, WiFi Security, Mesh, Location, WiFi offload, Indoor/Outdoor, BYOD, CME)

•       In depth knowledge of Network Security technology

•       Security Design, Engineering and troubleshooting skills

•       IP Network Design skills

•       Thorough understanding of Cisco security and security network management products

•       Experience designing and deploying security networks including datacenter, perimeter and core networks

•       Expert level Inter-networking troubleshooting in a large scale network environment.

•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•       Ability to communicate at a technical level illustrating the value a Cisco Security brings to the customer

•       Must be fluent in English

•       Preferable to have Security certifications like CISSP, CCNP(Security) , CCIE(preferred) etc.

•       Must be BE/B. Tech with a min of 8 years of experience.


The main responsibilities are:

•       Engage in technical discussions and presentations articulating the technical value of Security

•       Design and delivery Security solutions towards customer & partner pre-sales requests.

•       Provide training to the early in carrier engineers across Security offering.

•       Provide technical pre-sales support. Perform technical presentations for customers, partners.

•       Help the Account Team and customer ensure technical initiatives tie into the customer's strategy and goals

•       Establish collaborate relationships with internal resources such as Business Units, SE technical specialists etc

•       Develop expertise in relevant competitive solutions, products and services

•       Actively participate as an Security specialist in Virtual Teams and grow into delivering consultative selling support at times.

This candidate must work well as part of the virtual team and understand organization’s engagement model and how partners play a key role for success.


The successful candidate must demonstrate the following background/ skills:

•       Excellent communication and evangelical skills (written and verbal). Be able to explain the benefits of complex technology in easy to understand language. Presentation experience in a lecture style environment is highly desirable

•       Clear record of achievement, a willingness to work hard and perseverance to make things happen.

•       Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.

•       Able to adopt and drive a consultative selling process versus a product feature sell
