The VP, Head of Marketing will play the lead role in driving new business growth through strategic marketing and world class marketing execution. Utilizing a transformational leadership approach, will identify new innovative ways to “speak” to the consumer and target untapped markets within the financial services industry. Leveraging financial product knowledge and experience, the Head of Marketing will develop customer value propositions to propel sales growth, consumer interest and the overall Annuities business. The Head of Marketing will be a customer expert with intimate knowledge of the customer purchasing lifecycle and will use that knowledge to develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates our business solutions. Shaping both the brand and the storyline in the marketplace, experience designing successful go-to-marketing strategies and best in class marketing campaigns will implemented to acquire new customers and increase current customer loyalty.


Overall Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and inspiring marketing innovation, creativity, and customer-oriented outcomes within Annuities, creating world-class marketing execution and effectiveness.
  • Owning, implementing and driving marketing strategy and annual operating plans to fuel business growth and achieve department ROI objectives.
  • Identifying and communicating market opportunities and gaps; influencing internal partner innovation and action.
  • As a thought leader, providing insight to the business’ strategic direction, new product development or product expansion, and sales planning.
  • Advancing Annuities marketing capabilities by elevating talent and core marketing competencies to reflect the changing market and consumer demands.
  • Establishing and fostering collaborative relationships with all internal Annuities departments, members of Annuities senior leadership team and other key stakeholders.
  • Championing an organizational culture that is focused on protecting the Prudential Annuities brand, driving customer satisfaction, and pursuing the customer’s best interests.
  • Using test and learn approaches to test market relevancy and measure impact through research and feedback.
  • As a thought leader, driving customer loyalty, retention, and brand awareness in partnership with Prudential corporate and business unit partners.
  • Applying the right tools and technology, as well as lean processes, to manage content and enhance speed to market.
  • Being both creative and analytical, using deep customer insights, qualitative and quantitative research, and knowledge of the customer journey, to develop robust digital, advertising, and social and other integral consumer marketing strategies.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
  • Proven years of experience in the financial services industry leading strategic marketing initiatives, collecting customer/partner feedback, and annual planning.
  • Extensive experience in financial services marketing.
  • Proven experience creating/executing customer engagement strategies, with measurable successes in large financial organizations.
  • Experience with both consumer marketing as well as B2B marketing is a plus.
  • Digital marketing experience including the development, implementation, and execution of digital strategy required.
  • Ability to drive ideas from concept to successful implementation and maintenance.
  • Strong experience in a leadership role with exceptional leadership skills; demonstrates a passion for guiding and developing others; seeks feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high performing team.
  • Excellent analytical, management and communication skills, both written and oral, to synthesize key issues, develop strategies, communicate and persuade constituencies towards specific program/organizational actions and initiatives.
  • Quick study of complex problems and a highly-organized approach to finding high impact solutions.
  • Location flexible to Shelton, CT or Newark, NJ.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to multiple business sites (25% ).
