In the role, the VP of Revenue Cycle Management plans, develops, directs, and evaluates the overall policies, objectives and initiatives for the UHS Acute Division revenue cycle process. Reviews, designs and implements systematic approaches to maximize revenue and cash flow, while minimizing bad debt to ensure that the clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Provides leadership for developing and overseeing systems and processes to create efficiencies and improvement in the areas of registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, billing, collections and customer service.

  • Plans, directs and supervises revenue cycle systems and operations.
  • Actively works with the Acute Division Hospitals’ Leadership Teams and corporate leaders to review revenue cycle performance and pursue ways to improve cash flow.
  • Addresses regulatory reimbursement and managed care issues related to revenue cycle management.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure that the clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized.
  • Directs technology related activities to achieve desired goals and maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Develops budgetary goals and initiates corrective action to address variances.
  • Interacts with vendors and various departments that impact the revenue cycle management results, including: Patient Access, Patient Accounting, HIM Case Management, I/S, Finance and hospital patient care areas.
Job Requirements

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Health or Business Administration is required. A Master’s degree in health or business administration and/or certification by the American College of Medical Practice Executives is preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Ten years of Revenue Cycle experience in a complex healthcare organization, preferably national in scope.
• Strong understanding in the financial management, and business and revenue cycle operations of a complex, integrated healthcare delivery network
• Knowledge of fiscal management techniques, revenue cycle management and third party reimbursement
• Knowledge of health care administration systems
• Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications relative to revenue cycle
• Skill in planning, organizing and supervising
• Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision-making
• Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and prepare comprehensive reports
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
• Skill in human resources management, organization and team building.
• Travel is required (40% - 50%)
