Job Description
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of  Nursing practices and procedures; knowledge of department and personnel policies. Skill in oral and written communication; skill in the operation of nursing equipment. Ability to plan, organize and conduct patient care processes in a timely manner. This job requires understanding of and compliance with River Crest Hospital’s safety and loss control policies. 
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE:
Is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; is currently registered with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas; one year management experience; is able to exercise appropriate, independent judgment; exhibits leadership ability, is dependable, emotionally stable and is able to constructively cope with stress.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY:
Responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluating patient care on his/her particular unit; assuming twenty-four hour responsibility for unit; for planning, coordinating and evaluating all aspects of the nursing care for his/her unit; for personal and professional growth and development. Responsible for completing patient assessment & referral during shift including initial Intake process as well as nursing assessment as available. Responsible for aiding in budget preparation, employee supervision and counseling on his/her respective unit; developing, evaluating and revising staffing patterns in accordance with patients classification system; and updates and completes midnight census. Performs other tasks assigned.
 
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position, finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately or quickly; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands or fingers.
Work is of medium demand both physically and mentally. Heavy walking and standing while on duty; moving, lifting and turning patients may be required; able to assist in crisis intervention prevention/therapeutic holds on out of control patients. Must be able to life and/or move over 50 pounds and able to push and pull medication cart.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment with occasional periods of high stress.
