Job Summary:
The Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanic contributes to PepsiCo Beverages Canada’s success by performing scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (light and heavy), trailers, lift-gates, heaters, vans, pallet jacks and forklifts. This individual also disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends and electrical systems. This skilled position is located at the Winnipeg, MB facility with travel to Brandon, Dauphin, and Kenora once per period.

Availability: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm to 6:30am with possibility of overtime.
Travel: Rotation between mobile and working in the fleet shop

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary
  • Respond to road calls
  • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work
  • Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections)
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner
  • Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to travel to Brandon, Dauphin and Kenora once per period for 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) to complete mobile service requirements and repairs to remote assets. Company vehicle supplied for mobile trips only, hotel and meals paid for by the company
  • Must have own tools. Tool allowance may apply
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Valid Interprovincial Journeyman certification as a Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic
  • Familiar with maintaining forklifts, walkie riders, floor washers and pallet jacks
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Cost exposure to the company is greater than $1,000
  • Ability to work alone and be on call when necessary
  • Valid Class 1 license is an asset
  • Forklift experience, preference will be given to individuals with a Forklift Certificate but all must obtain
  • Familiar with the safe operation of hand tools
  • Team player who shows initiative, reliability and flexibility
